Why Choose Haven Physiotherapy for Your Pelvic Health Care?

  1. Pelvic health is our passion!

At Haven Physiotherapy, pelvic health is our primary focus and not just an additional service in a general physiotherapy practice. You can rest assured that your practitioner is experienced with many different presentations and is up to date on the latest research and advancements in this complex area of practice.

  2. Experience matters

At Haven Physiotherapy, all of your care will be with the same experienced pelvic health physiotherapist. We also have the lived experience of dealing with pelvic health symptoms and understand the physical and emotional challenges that come with it.

  3. Both internal and external - we do it all!

While an internal exam is never mandatory, we believe it is important to have the ability to perform one when treating pelvic health conditions. At Haven, we understand the intricacies of the pelvic floor itself, as well as how it functions as part of the whole body system, and have the skills to address both for best results!

  4. We know when technology can be helpful

In addition to skilled hands-on therapy, we embrace the use of advanced technology and tools such as Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging, surface EMG biofeedback and low level LASER therapy (LLLT)/photobiomodulation (PBM) - included at no additional charge to the client. We also use a treatment table designed specifically for pelvic health, in order to gain a more accurate assessment with improved client comfort.

  5. You won’t just be doing Kegels!

While Kegels (pelvic floor strengthening exercises) can be an important part of some treatment plans, there so is much we can do beyond this! Your exercises will be designed to improve your function in day-to-day life and tailored towards your individual interests and preferences.

  6. We know when to refer

We understand the full scope of care for pelvic health conditions and will be honest and straightforward with you when treatments beyond physiotherapy are needed. We know when and who to refer you to and will communicate with your other health care providers in order to ensure that you get the best care possible - think of us as your pelvic health quarterback!

  7. Privacy

Our office is designed to be a comfortable and confidential environment, ensuring you feel at ease to discuss your concerns in a private and enclosed space. No curtained off rooms or crowded and noisy gym spaces here!

  8. All bodies are welcome!

We recognize that pelvic health concerns affect people of all ages, genders, and levels of physical ability. Haven Physiotherapy is a safe and inclusive space where everyone can feel that they belong.

Meet your physiotherapist

Hi, my name is Amy, I have been practicing as a Registered Physiotherapist since 2012 and treating pelvic health conditions exclusively for the past 5 years.

My own experiences with pelvic health concerns during pregnancy, postpartum, and now perimenopause, are what motivated me to focus my practice on this much needed area of physiotherapy care.

Having worked in several other areas of physiotherapy prior to focusing on pelvic health, I approach my work with a wider lens and recognize the importance of addressing the whole body and the whole person, not just the pelvic floor, for lasting symptom relief.

My goal is to help you feel more confident in your body and able to participate in the activities that are meaningful for you and your quality of life. I look forward to meeting you!
